Dear Reader,
I chose to celebrate Mental Wellbeing this April. This is a challenging month for our minds and bodies. Temperature changes, clocks going forward, etc.
To make this transition smoother, I encourage you all to be kind to yourselves and others, eat healthy, do a detox, walk more, spend more time in nature and why not come and have a CBD oil massage, a Reiki session or any of my other relaxation massages.
Did you know that Vitamin C Day is on April 4 each year?
"Vitamin C is good for our body, mind, and soul. It not only wards off cold but benefits us in several important ways. A regular intake of vitamin C can lower the risk of heart disease and reduce blood pressure. It’s amazing for our skin and hair. What’s more incredible is that it’s abundantly present in some of our favourite foods — tomatoes, oranges, bell peppers, and lemons, to name a few. Enjoy your month!
Right - it’s September already…. Times flies, autumn has officially started and nature is good to us. In preparation for the cold season, nature offers us the best support to get our bodies ready for it - rosehips.
What rosehip looks like and when best to pick:
“Rosehip season in the UK is from September to November, and sometimes until early December. Rose hips are the fruit of the rose plant and are usually ready to pick when they are red in colour, soft to the touch, and the petals have dropped off.”
Benefits
Rosehips contain vitamins A and E, which can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and fine lines. Rosehip oil can also nourish and soothe dry skin by adding moisture and sealing it in.
Rosehips are rich in vitamin C, which can help boost the immune system and fight off infections and illnesses.
Rosehips contain antioxidants that can help reduce inflammation in the body, which may help with arthritis and other inflammatory conditions.
Rosehips may help lower cholesterol levels and reduce blood pressure.
Rosehips are low in calories and may help suppress appetite, which can support weight loss efforts.
Rosehips contain fiber, which can help with digestion and prevent constipation.
Rosehip extract may help ease joint inflammation and prevent joint damage.
Rosehips contain tiliroside, which can accelerate fat metabolism and prevent fat from building up in tissue.
How to use
Rosehips can be eaten fresh in salads and puddings, or dried and used in teas and infusions.
Also, finely chopped and mixed with honey. You can store this mixture in a glass jar for several months and consume a teaspoon daily like that or added to a tea.
I will go for rosehips foraging soon… Will you?
Thank you for reading and enjoy being healthier this winter.
